The East Turkistan Republican Party (ETRP) is a political party in diaspora, headquartered in Europe, formed by Uyghur people seeking political representation against China's actions in East Turkistan. The ETRP was formed on November 12, 2019, in Brussels, Belgium. Najmidin Qarluq was one of the founders, and currently serves as the organization's General Secretary. The political party is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in the European Union (EU). Each of the founders had family members arbitrarily held in detention, or had previously been incarcerated by Chinese government officials. The ETRP's stated aims are to unite all those opposed to China's actions in East Turkistan, with the political goal of the party's status in the United Nations. Ongoing efforts include raising awareness regarding China's actions in East Turkistan. These efforts include declaring that genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the poaching of the region's natural resources by the Chinese government are ongoing. The organization is center-right in its politics, and works with a variety of governments and other oppressed minority groups as translators, consultants, and political allies.

Organization of the ETRP: The ETRP's current structure, overseen by its chairpersons, includes three main offices: The Office of Research & Investigation (ORI?): This is a section of the ETRP performing Open-Source (OSINT) research regarding China's activities in East Turkistan and abroad. This office is modeled on the Bellingcat (provide link) organization, and publishes reports on China's domestic and transnational actions against minority groups. Specific research includes outlining alleged nepotism and corruption of those associated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)(provide link), as well as documenting international pressure, both electronic and physical, by China against its enemies abroad.

The ETRP has a dedicated women's wing, with female members occupying different roles in the above two offices.

The East Turkestan Republican Party is an influential political party among the Diaspora Uyghurs fighting for the establishment of an independent East Turkistan. The entire Uyghur people are eager to live in a completely independent country. The East Turkistan Republican Party is the first Uyghur political party that represents the Uyghurs’ aspirations for independence, to make East Turkistan an independent UN member state and to mobilise the entire population to participate in politics. The East Turkistan Republican Party, which is currently promoting full democracy within the Uyghurs, is likely to play a key role in China-US relations and the political future of East Turkistan. From the point of view of China being the second largest economy in the world, the East Turkistan Republican Party is very important because it aims to make East Turkistan, which makes up one-third of China’s natural resources, an independent republic, which will strive for political and economic balance in the future. [1]
The main purpose of the East Turkistan Republican Party on its own website is: ETRP strives to make the management of majority based democracy widely spread. In our inner side, we open up ways for people who possess new and advanced power to show their enthusiasm for participation and only when we imply the true democracy within our party , then we can we apply it in our country and be an opposing force in front of the fake Chinese democracy. The most important step in achieving independence is that we bring the true democracy into reality within our party.

Activities

Since its founding, the ETRP has organized numerous demonstrations calling for the independence of East Turkistan. The ETRP has submitted a petition to the EU the recognition of China's treatment of Uyghurs as genocide [3] and called for the passing of an act similar to the US's "Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act." The party has made a variety of public statements advocating democratic values and world peace".[4]
The ETRP has issued statements expressing gratitude to several governments, including Canada, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and France, for their stated recognition of China's policies supporting Uyghur extermination and suppression. In 2022, the ETRP responded to the UN Human Rights Office report on Xinjiang, stating that 'the only way to stop the Uyghur genocide and prevent the increasingly powerful threats of Chinese dictatorship is to secure the political and territorial independence of East Turkistan.

The party emblem

The party emblem of the East Turkestan Republican Party is a picture of East Turkestan placed between the color of the United Nations wife and an olive branch circle. There are three five-pointed stars with a large center and smaller sides used on the national emblem of the First Republic.

☆  Modeled on the UN flag, the olive branch represents our goal of establishing an independent, peaceful country that is a member of the UN and truly respects the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

☆  The map of our homeland, which takes the place of the globe in the UN flag, represents that our country, as a part of the world, has the right to implement the "Human Rights Declaration" within the scope of the UN.

☆  The three stars inherited from the national flag of the First and Second Republics also symbolize the three rivers of Tarım, Ili and Ertish, and our party's values of independence, fraternity and equality.
